IWC novelties 2022

The new IWC watches 2022 are all about the Pilot's Watch: the legendary pilot's watch collection was expanded at Watches & Wonders 2022 to include various Top Gun models. IWC focuses primarily on innovative materials and exciting colour accents. In addition to the Top Gun Certanium, the manufacturer presented two highlights with the 2022 innovations:

• Pilot's Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition "Lake Tahoe" (Ref. IW389105)
• Pilot's Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition "Woodland" (Ref. IW389106)

Ref. IW389105 and ref. IW389106 are limited to 1,000 pieces each. Both watches have a 44.5-millimetre ceramic case and were developed for professional use. This is already indicated by the fact that both IWC novelties belong to the flagship "Top Gun" line. The individual shades of the ceramic cases were also developed in collaboration with Pantone.

The Lake Tahoe features a ceramic case in subdued white. This shade is inspired by the white uniforms of naval aviators and the winter landscape around Lake Tahoe - a popular naval training area. The watch offers perfect readability thanks to the greatest possible contrasts on the dial. While the case back of the Ref. IW389105 is made of titanium, and the pushers and crown are made of stainless steel for a perfect grip.

Woodland in monochrome style

With IWC's 2022 novelties, a newly developed green ceramic shade makes its way into the Pilot's Watch collection. Ref. IW389106 is reminiscent of the flight suits and uniforms worn by the elite pilots of the Californian TOPGUN fighter school. The design of the Woodland relies less on the greatest possible contrast but on a monochromatic design, which originates from an elaborate colour engineering and has been perfectly matched to the green ceramic colour. This results in an urban stealth look without sacrificing the Pilot's Watch-typical accents. The IWC Woodland also has a crown and two chronograph push-pieces made of stainless steel.

Both 2022 novelties feature the automatic in-house calibre 69380, which IWC now uses in most of its Pilot's Watch chronograph references. This is a modern manufacture movement with a chronograph function based on the classic column-wheel construction that allows stop times of up to 12 hours. The power reserve of both novelties is about 46 hours.
