Its staggering complexity is a testament to the first-class skills of Patek Philippe's team of watchmakers. An incredible 20 complications are built into a clockwork with a diameter of only 37 mm. The Grandmaster Chime's seven patents
Continually devoted to the fine art of watchmaking, Patek Philippe has developed seven technical refinements especially for the legendary 300 movement. Unique to this watch, these patented inventions include an alarm mechanism with a time strike feature and the ability to isolate the Grande Sonnerie function in sleep mode. There's also a date repetition mechanism, a four-digit year display and of course the reversible casing. To sum up, the Grandmaster Chime is a horological masterpiece packed full of innovative technology, compelling evidence of this brand's incomparable passion for watchmaking.
Innovative reversible housing
Standard watch cases consist of around 12 individual parts. By contrast, the case of the Grandmaster Chime is made of 214 components, each of which demands the finest craftsmanship and precision. The result is a unique double-faced watch. The Grandmaster Chime has no front or back dial in the traditional sense. Instead, you can swap faces using the innovative turning mechanism. When the crown points to the right, a dial with the time display faces upwards. With the crown to the left, the watch presents a calendar with a 24-hour auxiliary dial and a four-digit year display. The two dials are made of 18 carat gold. Both views show the time and date.
