Omega's year 2021 began with a big event: on 5 January, the manufacturer presented the new generation of the Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional. The Calibre 3861 was the first hand-wound calibre with Co-Axial escapement to be used in the Moonwatch. The appearance of the new Moonwatch was inspired by the vintage ref. ST 105.012, one of the most sought-after Speedmaster references. The model has been equipped with perfectly dosed vintage details:
- Dot-Over-90 bezel
- Applied Omega logo for the sapphire crystal version (the logo is still printed on the Hesalite Moonwatch).
- Step Dial
- Stainless steel bracelet tapering from 20 to 15 millimetres, inspired by the vintage bracelet Ref. 1479 (1989 to 1996) with vintage-style clasp.
In addition to the stainless steel variants with Hesalite and sapphire crystal, Omega has presented two gold variants of the Moonwatch in 2021. These are now available in 18-carat Sedna gold (rose gold) and Canopus gold (white gold).
The new Moonwatch calibre 3861
Following on from the calibres 321, 861 and 1861, the Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional is equipped with the new calibre 3861. Thanks to manual winding and METAS certification, Omega combines tradition and progress in one manufacture movement. The calibre 3861 offers a precision of +0/+5 seconds per day, a magnetic field resistance of 15,000 gauss and a power reserve of 50 hours.
